My greatest fear is being in a car crash… it’s a recurring nightmare that I have. It’s weird, I’m not afraid of cars or driving.

My current state of mind is one of happiness, I love where my life is right now.

I am happiest when I am spending time with my son.

My greatest achievement would have to be becoming a father. Winning the World Championship is definitely up there too of course.

If I could add any element of talent I would make myself a better footballer.

If money was no object or worry, I would love to be a golfer.

My advice to a classroom of children would be to get your education, travel as much as you can, and just enjoy life.

My sporting hero is the Hurricane. Alex Higgins. No question.

The one song that I always love listening to is ‘All I Want Is You’ by U2.

My favourite place in the world? It has to be Dublin!

Read Ken Doherty’s long-form piece “Nearly Over Before It Started” where he writes about his first days at a snooker table standing on a biscuit tin to be able to reach the table, the incident that could have cut his storied career short, and the day he won the World Championship here.

The Sports Chronicle brings you stories from the world of sport by the players, the coaches and the unsung heroes, all in their own words.

This all began with a contribution from Jamie Heaslip, one of the greatest servants to Irish rugby, with The End is Really The Beginning Part 1 and Part 2.
